LISA BISBEE ARTIST— Creative direction and comprehensive design support for the fine artist. As a result, her artwork is now exhibited internationally and she has a waitlist for commissions.
Brand Identity, Printed Media, Exhibition Design, Social Media, Animation
In collaboration with the artist Lisa Bisbee, I worked to support and promote her creative journey. Together we developed this series of New York City scenes in bright colors when I gifted her the palette of fluorescent oil paints that glow under blacklight. During the process of painting I would advise her on the composition, offer critique or feedback, submit my own photography as a subject, add invaluable words of encouragement, and provide creative direction to support the vision.
As the designer I took on many aspects of visual communication to align with the series. From Lisa's signature I illustrated a logo that felt natural for her brand identity. I created the layout and concept for her business cards, which could be framed and transformed into mini-paintings. Once we reached the goal of fifty artworks, we presented the collection at ArtExpo New York 2024, and Superfine ArtFair 2024. For the art fairs, I took charge of the exhibition booth design, and installation. The goal was to be instagrammable, and attract an audience with the blacklight. To promote interaction with fair guests we offered takeaway items, an artist's catalog of the series, collectable business cards, a work-in-progress zine and affordable framed print options.
For Lisa's social media I instructed on the art direction of the reels, best practices for studio set-up and content creation templates/video editing. We shared the work and together grew her online presence from 300 to nearly 6,000. Additionally, we wanted to recognize all the years of artwork she created before so we planned a way to archive her thirty years of experience. For this I set up an in-home photoshoot session to capture over a hundred paintings—all of which are published on her instagram grid. To shop the artwork, we created a website to easily order originals and with the option to order framed prints made on-demand.
The series has continued as Lisa gained popularity and representation by two galleries as a result of the exposure online and at the New York City art fairs. Signet Contemporary Art Gallery, based in the UK, has commissioned pieces that depict the cities of London, Boston, and Singapore. Also, the Penn State based Albert Douglas Art Gallery has commissioned scenes of the university buildings, iconic football stadium, and historic downtown architecture.
