Hi there!
Here's a little Q and A about me:

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN ARTIST/DESIGNER?

Well, for as long as I can remember I've always thought like a designer. Creativity is a part of my family bloodline. Both my parents are artists, and many of my relatives are too. Growing up I was encouraged to use my imagination, free to play in a messy room, and make my dreams a reality.

As a kid, I was conscious of balance, unity, repetition, and all the other elements and principles. My home was covered in artwork produced by two lovely people who met in art school years ago. With all the art books that lined our family shelves, I became educated about artists and was inspired.

WHAT ART OR DESIGN MOVEMENT DO YOU FIND MOST INFLUENTIAL IN YOUR WORK?

The knowledge of all of them is naturally influential in and of itself, but I have been digging deeper into the artistic and intellectual movement, Romanticism.

During this period in history people saw the beauty in and celebrated the awe-inspiring powers of nature, culturally there was a new focus on individuality and the glorification of one's emotions, there was rebellion against tradition and rationality (i.e. the meaning of life was in question), unlike before people started weighing emotion more over reason, overall it was an exploration of the unknown, and the infusion of spiritual symbolism.

Since 2021, I've been gravitating towards books written in the 19th century and magnificent paintings that influenced the movement. The novelists, Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte, who wrote passionate tales of women and love, and who created heroines that chased their dreams and challenged society, have been my companions the past few years. The French artist, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, created my most favorite painting, The Swing; I admire it everyday.

CAN YOU SHARE A PROJECT YOU'RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON AND THE STORY BEHIND IT?

Stitching a one of kind jacket.

When I first started learning embroidery in 2020, I decided to put my efforts into creating something wearable and worthy of the investment of time I was intending to make. I purchased a light blue jean jacket and began stitching away the hours, covering it in symbols I related to. With each patch I am getting better at my craft, and attempting more difficult designs with ease.

There’s a bumblebee on my shoulder, a banana in my pocket, an ace up my sleeve, and Kermit the Frog minding his business. I am also collecting pins from my travels, along with the various embroidered symbols.
